Lavandula stoechas Anouk Deep Rose - Spanish Lavender

Lavandula stoechas is commonly referred to as Spanish Lavender. While not all, most are recognized with the variations of pink to purple pineapple topped blooms. Spanish lavender is not like the English or French lavender varieties in several ways. It is more of a strong piney fragrance than the soft relaxing aromas of the English and French lavender plants.

Bees and butterflies adore this lavender variety for pollination, however, deer and rabbits tend to pass it by on their food quest since they don't like eating fragrant plants.

The Anouk Deep Rose will begin blooming in spring and, with a little pruning assistance in mid summer, can continue flowering up to frost in fall. This upright grower is excellent for containers. Typically grows up to 18 inches tall and up to 14 inches wide. For full sun areas. Requires minimal watering during the growing season.

Due to the pungent fragrance of the Lavandula stoechas blooms, I would recommend planting it away from outdoor sitting areas and more within the garden or landscape setting, as an edging or border plant, or in nook and crannies.

Spanish lavender plants are beautiful and add interest to any garden setting, just keep them at an arm's distance. If you're interested in lavender plants for oil production, you'll want to check out Grosso Lavender - best for oils.
