Tips for winter planting hellebores:
The safest way for planting hellebores now in zones 6 and 7 is to dig a hole large enough to 'plant' the entire pot that the plant is currently growing in. Keeping the plant intact inside the pot planted in the ground will keep the young root system safe until later in spring after the plant blooms and you are able to plant it properly. Lightly cover around the base of the plant with shredded bark mulch, newspapers or a light layer of straw.
