The Blue star creeper is a must have for all gardens because of its many and varied uses. Plant Laurentia Blue Star Creeper between stepping stones, in rock gardens, around ferns, as a ground cover, or in containers in the garden. The laurentia fluviatilis has tiny green leaves that form a low, dense mat that is an evergreen ground cover in warmer climates or semi-evergreen in cooler ones. Its delightful small, light blue flowers bloom from spring to fall. While its mature height is just 3 inches, it spreads to 18 inches.
The blue star creeper is often used in container gardens where it forms a dense mat beneath taller plants, and a great visual green soft low flowering mat against any vibrant colored annual or perennial. If you grow tired of it in the container, at the end of growing season just take out of the container and separate into smaller chunks for replanting into more permanent areas as a groundcover beneath small deciduous trees, landscape shrubs and other perennials. A great versatile plant you’ll enjoy and never tire of seeing in the garden for years to come.
Warmer or hotter climates should plant the blue star creeper in lightly shaded areas for best growth.
