What art we would have missed had it not been for the iris. Claude Monet saw the beauty in this spring blooming flower over a hundred years ago.
 
Irises must have been his favorite flower. Monet planted hundreds of irises in many different colors. He planted rows of purple, white, yellow, pink and red irises for his spring garden.
 
So...take a tip from one of the greatest artists to have lived and add some irises to your garden. Our container grown irises are easy to transplant and they grow beautifully.

Planting Irises

Plant in full sun (6 - 8 hours daily), in a well drained section of your garden with good air circulation. Typical spacing is 12 to 24 inches apart. Water plants when the top 3 inches of soil begins to dry out. Over watering of Irises is a common mistake. Less frequent deep watering is better than frequent shallow watering.

Fertilizing Irises

Established plants may benefit from spring fertilizing. Use a blend that is not high in nitrogen such as 5-10-10 or 10-10-10. To prevent over crowding, divide plants every 3 to 5 years.
