Thuja Green Giants are pyramidal shaped evergreen trees often used in evergreen privacy hedges. The rapid growth of the Thuja Green Giants, sometimes called Cedar Green Giant, has led them to become one of the most popular privacy trees on the market today, often seen advertised as a fast growing evergreen tree variety.

Common uses for Thuja Green Giants are as privacy hedges or living fences. As a fast growing evergreen tree, the Cedar Green Giant has other great characteristics, too:

  • Deer resistant evergreen tree
  • Disease and insect resistant
  • Alternative to Leyland Cypress
  • Adaptable to almost any soil type
  • Requires no pruning
  • Grows in full sun to partial shade
  • Use as privacy hedges

The Thuja Green Giant ‘standishii x plicatata’ is a rare hybrid between Western Red Cedar plicata and Thuja Standishii Cedar, which once established, is faster growing than its arborvitae relatives. Elegant and uniform, Cedar Green Giants conical habit needs no shearing or pruning and is cloaked in dense, dark, evergreen foliage to the ground - a stunning choice for a private evergreen tree screen.

Cedar Green Giants are able to withstand drought well, exhibiting no significant pest or disease problems and are highly deer and bagworm resistant!

It is the best alternative evergreen to the disease prone Leyland Cypress in the south and to the Hemlocks that are dying throughout New England.

Plant 5 to 8 feet apart for a fast privacy tree screen. Most vigorous growth will be in full sun, but also performs well in light shade. Zones 5 - 9.
