Achillea New Vintage Rose Yarrow -

The Achillea Millefolium as the New vintage rose is known in the scientific world, or Yarrow as it is more commonly known, is a beautiful plant with a very tidy habit and no gaps between its foliage and deep pink flowers. For an achillea, it holds it shape well, making it splendid for planting in containers.

It is a hardy plant, which makes it one of the best perennials you could plant in your garden. It will survive hot, dry, and sunny locations well, blooming in the late spring and all through the summer months. It can also withstand winter temperatures quite well, surviving lows of -25°F (-32°C).

Unlike other achillea varieties that fade to brown once the flowers mature, the flowers of the yarrow mature into bold colors and attractive shades that will give life to your space. The flowers form a rose-pink cluster over a compact, ferny foliage that is excellent for cutting either fresh or dried.

Yarrow care is quite simple and straightforward. We recommend planting this plant in the full sun and watering it lightly with monthly application of fertilizer to encourage good growth. After blooming, it is recommended to trim off the faded flowers to promote continual blooming well into the end of the summer. It grows to a height of 12-14” and spreads 10-12” wide. It is however, inclined to spreading, so you will need to carefully plan your planting to prevent it growing in clumps each spring. You can also easily divide it in the fall or early spring. To maintain a compact habit, trim back after the first bloom.
