Wee White Hydrangea | Dwarf White Flowering Hydrangea Shrub -
Native to north America, the wee white hydrangea is a deciduous dwarf Annabelle hydrangea – the only one in the world! It is a cute and tiny plant with deep green foliage and white bouquet-like flowers. The flowers emerge in a soft blush of pink color, but later change to white. They are held up by a strong, woody stem like is the case with other hydrangeas. It is a reblooming plant that begins blooming in the early summer and carries through to frost. It is amazingly versatile and perfect for most landscaping problems.
Grow Mini or Dwarf Hydrangeas
It is a very short plant, growing to 30 inches with an equal spread, and needs about 24-36 inches when planting. Like the hydrangea mini mauvette, these dwarf hydrangeas for sun do well in part to full sun conditions with strong stems and full blooms. However, will need well ventilated soil to grow well. It is also very easy to maintain the dwarf hydrangeas. To prune, simply cut back a third of the plant’s total height every spring when new growth just begins to appear. This preserves the woody base of the plant while also encouraging optimum blooms.
The white hydrangea varieties have shallow roots, and that is also the case with this plant. We therefore recommend a thick layer of shredded bark, 2-3 inches thick. If desired, apply a fertilizer that is specially formulated for woody plants in early spring.
This wee white hydrangea variety is a great choice for any landscaping project. It has average water requirements and is just perfect as a border plant, edging plant, container plant, and more.
