Sedum Voodoo Stonecrop - Succulent Plants -
The Voodoo is a prized perennial with evergreen to semi-evergreen leaves. Native to western Eurasia, it prefers full sun and well-drained soils. It is drought resistant and is the perfect plant for massing on the lawn. It features deep burgundy succulent leaves with clusters of tiny pink flowers that appear during summer.
This unusually colored plant has maroon stems that run on the ground so they stay mostly hidden behind the leaves. Its glossy leaves rise to a uniform height making it a tidy ground cover plant. This red sedum can be planted in a container as a gift plant. It blooms in early summer through to late summer.
Sedum voodoo care is minimal because it is fairly drought-resistant and can adapt to poor, dry soil conditions. It is easy to propagate requiring only pieces broken off from the plant be stuck back in the ground. It is easy to maintain by trimming off stems and dead flowers and mowing for large patches.
This variation of the sedum dragon’s blood red family does well in neutral to alkaline loam or sandy soils. It blooms in early summer to late summer. The voodoo grows to a short height of 4-6” with a spread of 12-23”. It is best planted in front of taller plants to showcase its bright color and the variation of height.
The burgundy flowers attract butterflies and are deer and rabbit resistant. It works best as a border plant or a feature plant in a garden. You can also use it for edging or as a mass growing plant in a space with light foot traffic.
This sedum is great plant for a woodland garden because it provides great variation of texture and height. It can be planted alongside other less showy plants or alongside more vibrant hues for a highly contrasting and aesthetically pleasing gardens. Voodoo Sedum is evergreen in moderate climates.
