Malus sargentii - Flowering Sargent Crabapple

One of our favorite wildlife plants. The Sargent Crabapple is more of a shrub shaped small growing tree. Not generally used as a food source for humans, birds will enjoy the sweet flavored small fruits. Yellow fall foliage is a wonderful contrast with the red fruit.

In spring the pink buds open to fragrant white flowers. Strong flowering occurs in alternate years. This plant does have thorns. Prune as needed in late winter.

Good choice for hedges or planting among the landscape to feed birds over winter.

Sargent Crabapple is grown in quart pots. Does not ship to AZ, CA, ID, OR, WA.
