Okame Cherry Blossom Tree
Okame Cherry Tree is one of the earliest bloomers of the Japanese Cherry Blossom trees, its medium pink petals open fully before the tree puts on its leaves. Prunus Okame', has consistent year-to-year blooming. The rosy pink buds are attractive even before the bloom opens, and the calyx and reddish stamens persist for about a week after flowering. The overall floral effect generally lasts 2 to 3 weeks. Easy to plant, easy to grow, and beautiful to have as an addition to your outdoor rooms.
At maturity, the Okame Flowering Cherry Tree attains 20-30' in height with a comparable spread. Young trees display a broad-columnar habit while older trees will develop a more rounded habit. Rate of growth is medium, especially when young, so expect 1- 2' or more per year. As with most cherry blossom trees, the Okame is noted for being hardy in USDA Zones 6-9.
Okame Cherry and other Japanese flowering cherry trees are early spring time favorites for their cherry blossoms in the landscape.

Please Note: Beginning in September, many plants begin to go dormant.
Some plants may have already dropped their leaves, died back to the ground or are beginning to turn yellow when they arrive to you. Deciduous trees, shrubs, perennials and groundcovers do go dormant.
This is a normal stage for plants at this time of the year. Plant upon arrival as roots continue to grow while the ground is warm. Some plants require seasonal maintenance and may have been pruned.
