One of the most attractive street and lawn shade trees, the Jefferson Elm is a monumental tree perfect for open urban and suburban landscapes. The original plant of this disease tolerant American elm cultivar is located in front of the Freer Gallery on the National Mall, Washington, DC with it, also, being one of two American Elms planted at the White House in October, 2006.
Ulmus americana is adaptable to many soil conditions and pH, plus tolerant of environmental hardships such as road salts, drought and air pollution.
Has excellent resistance to Dutch Elm disease. The Jefferson Elm is also a desirable choice for cemeteries, parks and highway plantings.
Jefferson Elm is grown in one gallon containers. Pots will be removed with root system bagged before shipping.
