Dianthus Early Bird Frosty

Another striking plant from the dianthus variety. This white dianthus perennial grows in clumps of grass-like, blue-green foliage. In the early spring, beautiful white fragrant flowers bloom atop upright stems. It is a long blooming plant that maintains it’s attractive display all through to late summer. Cutting off spent flowers encourages reblooms all through the season treating you to a display like no other. The early bird frosty dianthus grows to about 10 inches high and with a spread of about 8 inches wide.

Early Bird Frosty Dianthus Care

You will love how low maintenance the dianthus frosty early bird is. It is an unbelievably resistant plant when established, and will do quite well even in rough summer and winter months. It does well in areas with plenty of sun, and so should be planted in areas receiving at least six hours of sunlight every day. It also prefers loose, well-drained, alkaline, neutral, or slightly acidic soils. Fertilize occasionally and remove dying flowers to encourage reblooming through the blooming period.

It is the perfect plant for borders, container plant, or as a ground cover. It is perfect for rock, hilly gardens. The sweet fragrance of the flowers attracts butterflies, and hummingbirds but keeps deers away. Growing dianthus is as easy as it gets for garden plants!
