Amber Lady Coral Bells -
This popular herbaceous evergreen perennial is a new variety that is part of the Heureka series. It is characterized by big, velvety, folded leaves that are amber with rose-pink undersides. It also has a spectacular silvery marble overlay and small white flowers that bloom in mid-summer.
Like most coral bells, it is a hardy plant that will stay evergreen and more vibrant when planted under a little direct sunlight. It will do exceptionally well in adequately drained soils, and is versatile enough to withstand any soil type regardless of pH. The Amber Lady can grow up to 6-8 inches tall and spread to 10-12 inches.
Coral bells care is minimal requiring only occasional watering and deadheading of dried blooms when desired. After deadheading, it may not rebloom, but the overall appearance is improved significantly. This plant has a medium growth rate and if tended to well can grow for many years surviving cold winters.
The Amber Lady Heuchera dividing is best done in spring or fall. Heuchera pruning can be done in early spring to remove older growing foliage.
The Amber Lady is found naturally in woody gardens, therefore, when planting, it is best placed in full or part shade areas. It can also survive in prairies, along slopes and rocky cliffs. The low-growing nature and mounding character makes it perfect for edge plants, or border plants. It also adds a spectacular feature to rock gardens and makes a perfect companion plant to Heuchera Black Knight.
It is deer and rabbit resistant, and attracts butterflies. This cultivar poses no serious insect or disease problems. During winter there may be incidences of frost heaving during sharply fluctuating winters.
Amber Lady Heuchera ships as a trade one gallon container grown plant. Orders shipping to AZ and CA addresses may be bare rooted and root washed before prepping for shipping.
