Pre‑Order Now until April 1st! Orders are currently scheduled to ship April 2026.

Hydrangea Firelight Tidbit® (Hydrangea paniculata 'SMHPFL' USPP 30,250, Can 5,591) is a compact panicle hydrangea that delivers stunning color transitions from creamy white to rich pink in a perfectly sized package. This Proven Winners® selection reaches just 3-4 feet tall and wide, making it ideal for small gardens, containers, and foundation plantings where traditional hydrangeas would be too large.

Key Features:

  • Large cone-shaped flower clusters bloom white and age to rich pink
  • Compact growth habit - reaches only 3-4 feet tall and wide
  • Blooms on new wood - flowers reliably every year
  • Deer resistant and low maintenance
  • Excellent for containers and small gardens
  • Strong stems hold flowers upright without flopping
  • Proven Winners® selection
  • Hardy in zones 3-8

Growing Conditions:
Plant Firelight Tidbit® hydrangea in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. This adaptable shrub performs best with at least 4-6 hours of sun for maximum flowering. Water regularly during establishment and dry periods. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Blooms on new wood, so even if stems are damaged by cold winters, the plant will still flower beautifully.

Landscape Uses:
Perfect for small gardens, foundation plantings, mixed borders, container gardens, and mass plantings. Firelight Tidbit®'s compact size makes it ideal for urban gardens, patios, and anywhere you want big hydrangea blooms without the big plant. The white-to-pink color transition provides months of interest from summer through fall, and the dried flowers add winter structure.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How big does Firelight Tidbit hydrangea get?
Firelight Tidbit® is a compact variety that reaches only 3-4 feet tall and wide, making it much smaller than traditional panicle hydrangeas. This makes it perfect for small gardens, containers, and tight spaces where you want hydrangea blooms without overwhelming the area.

Does Firelight Tidbit hydrangea bloom every year?
Yes! Firelight Tidbit® blooms on new wood, which means it flowers reliably every year even in cold climates. If stems are damaged by winter cold, simply prune them back in spring and the plant will produce new growth and abundant blooms.

What color are Firelight Tidbit hydrangea flowers?
Firelight Tidbit® produces large cone-shaped flower clusters that start creamy white in summer and gradually transition to rich pink as they mature. This color change provides months of evolving beauty from summer through fall.

Shipping Information

Orders containing only hard goods generally ship right away
as the inventory allows. Those items ship year-round and generally within one
week.

When ordering plants during fall or spring shipping, we will
set your order for the next available shipping week appropriate for your
location. April and May are our busiest months, and sometimes shipping delays
happen. Plants may be processed later than scheduled or the shipping department may get behind. This is not the norm, but it does sometimes happen. Please bear with us if this happens.

Our bare-root (field-grown) trees and shrubs typically arrive at the facility for shipping in November, December, and January (for fall shipping) and in February, March, April, and May (for spring shipping).

An example of month-by-month shipping would be as follows, as plants are available:

January - zones 9 - 10

February - zones 8 - 10

March - zones 7 - 10

April - zones 6 - 10

May - zones 5 - 9

June - zones 3 - 8

July - zones 3 - 7

August - zones 4 - 7

September - zones 5 - 8

October - zones 5 (some areas) - 9

November - zones 6 (some areas) - 10

December - zones 8 - 10
