Buy Now: Jane Magnolia Shrubs (Magnolia × 'Jane')
Product Overview:
Part of the Little Girl Magnolia Series of compact, cold-hardy magnolias, the Jane Magnolia is a stunning spring bloomer that flowers several weeks later than stellata varieties—reducing the risk of frost damage. This hybrid magnolia produces cup-shaped blooms with purple-red outer petals and white interiors, creating a dramatic two-tone effect that stands out in any landscape.

Jane Magnolia matures to 10–15 feet tall with a spread of up to 12 feet, making it ideal for use as a specimen shrub, flowering hedge, or small ornamental tree. It’s a beautiful choice for home landscapes, woodland garden edges, or pairing with other spring bloomers like the Ann Magnolia.

While peak bloom occurs in April and May, Jane has been known to rebloom sporadically into July, adding surprise color to summer gardens.

Key Features:
• Late Blooming: Flowers later than stellata types, reducing frost risk.
• Bi-Color Blooms: Purple-red outer petals with white interiors.
• Compact Size: Grows 10–15 feet tall and up to 12 feet wide.
• Multi-Use Form: Can be grown as a shrub or small ornamental tree.
• Seasonal Interest: Spring blooms, lush summer foliage, and sculptural winter form.
• Hybrid Vigor: Part of the Little Girl Series—cross between M. liliiflora 'Nigra' and M. stellata 'Rosea'.

Planting and Care Instructions:
• Sunlight Needs: Full sun to partial shade.
• Soil Requirements: Slightly acidic, well-drained soil. Amend clay-heavy areas.
• Watering Needs: Regular watering during first season; drought-tolerant once established.
• Fertilizing: Apply balanced fertilizer in early spring before new growth.
• Pruning: Minimal pruning required; shape after flowering if desired.
• Mulching: Use mulch to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.

Spacing Guidelines:
For hedge or border planting, space Jane Magnolia shrubs 8–10 feet apart. For specimen use, allow 12–15 feet of clearance to showcase its full form.
