Buy Now: Add the Classic Schip Laurel to Your Landscape!

Product Overview: Transform your garden with the versatile Schip Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus 'Schipkaensis'), also known as Skip Laurel. This popular evergreen shrub is celebrated for its dense foliage and fast growth, making it an ideal choice for privacy hedges and windbreaks. Maturing at 10–16 feet tall, this hardy shrub thrives in urban environments, tolerating salt and pollution while bringing year-round greenery to your landscape. In spring, its fragrant white blooms give way to small black drupes by midsummer, providing food for birds.

Key Features

  • Fast Growth: Grows up to 2 feet per year, quickly establishing privacy and green coverage.
  • Dense Evergreen Foliage: Offers year-round beauty and privacy.
  • Fragrant Blooms: White flowers in spring transition into black drupes, attracting birds.
  • Urban Toughness: Tolerates salt, pollution, and varying soil conditions.

Uses for Schip Laurel

  • Privacy Screens: Space 5 feet apart to create a lush green hedge for privacy.
  • Woodland Edges: Ideal for edging woodland garden areas.
  • Windbreaks & Wildlife Gardens: Protects against wind and invites birds and other wildlife.

Growing & Maintenance Tips

  • Sun Exposure: Thrives in part to full sun.
  • Soil Preferences: Adaptable to various soil types; test soil before applying fertilizer.
  • Fertilizing Tips: Use a timed-release fertilizer during spring and summer if necessary.
  • Pruning Advice: Lightly prune in spring or summer to encourage fullness and control height.
  • Deer Resistance: Tough foliage makes it less appealing to deer than other hedges.
