Blue Cushion Lavender - Fragrant Perennial Plant
Lavender blue cushion is a beautiful flowering perennial plant native to the Mediterranean region. It is a low growing shrub-like plant characterized by deep blue flowers and grey-green foliage. It usually blooms from early summer to late summer. A full growing lavender plant that will go to a height of about 12 to 16 inches with a an almost equal spread of 12 to 18 inches. It will do well in neutral or even acidic soils. Like other lavender varieties, the Blue Cushion performs best in full sun, good air circulation and sandy soil.
Perennial Lavender Blue Cushion Care
Taking care of the dwarf English lavender is very simple. It does not enquire moist soil so you do not need to worry about watering. It however, needs regular watering when growing, until it is well-established. Pruning should be done in early spring and not more than four inches should be cut off. The plant requires optimum sun exposure for the best flowering. Therefore, one can introduce them onto dry and hot areas where no other plant survives. However, to avoid crown rot, during winter, you may need to have sharp drainage.
The Lavandula angustifolia Blue Cushion lavender plant produces fragrant flowers and foliage making it great as a pot or cottage plant. It has minimal challenges with plant diseases and pests. It is drought, rabbit, and deer resistant However, due to its sweet fragrance and beauty, it attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Makes a beautiful perennial border as well at home in the kitchen herb garden.
