It is a long-blooming plant, so you’ll get to enjoy this beautiful array all through the summer and into the fall. Raspberry Surprise Dianthus Care

The Dianthus Scent First™ Raspberry Surprise does not need much caring nor maintenance. However, if you want them to maintain a neat and compact habit, we recommend that you sheer the plants lightly after bloom. This will also encourage a repeat bloom in the fall. Removing spent blooms also encourages heavier blooming. The raspberry surprise does well in well-drained soils that are either neutral or slightly alkaline. Adult plants are quite hardy and don’t need much watering, but you should water plants in the first growing season regularly—ideally weekly or more in hot areas—until the root system is established. You can also fertilize dianthus during the growing season. Plant the raspberry surprise in the full sun, or in areas receiving at least six hours of sunlight if you want the healthiest plant.

This dianthus variety is perfect for borders, rock gardens, as a container plant, and for flower cuttings. It will look wonderful planted with other low edging plants. It is loved by butterflies but is resistant to deer.

A great companion plant for this dianthus is the Firewitch Dianthus.
