5 Tips for Keeping Your Cut Flowers Fresh

Tips for Keeping Your Cut Flowers Fresh

- when cutting your flowers and fillers make the cut on a 45 degree angle. That way the cut on the stem will have more exposure for absorbing water and it will sit off the bottom of the vase or container. Flat cuts result in sitting flat against the bottom the vase not absorbing water properly.

- arrange the plants in room temperature clean water. Cut off any foliage that sits below the water level.

- if you don't have professional cut plant feeder, crush an aspirin to add to the vase water plus a sprinkle of sugar.

- change out the water in the vase or container every 4 to 6 days. If bacteria has built up, clean it with bleach and water before refilling with fresh clean water.

- once your fresh flower arrangement has run its course, clean the container with bleach before storing it.
