Muscadine Plants
Muscadines Grapevines are either female or self-fertile. Self-fertile muscadine vines will bear fruit if planted alone. Female muscadine grapevines must be planted within 50 feet of a self-fertile muscadine plant to bear fruit. One self-fertile muscadine grapevine plant will pollinate up to 3 female vines. It doesn't matter which color you pollinate with, the muscadine fruits will stay true to their specific variety.
Even if you choose a self-fertile muscadine variety, consider planting another variety nearby for more fruit production. Growing muscadine plants is perfect for southern gardens.
All muscadine grapevine plants bloom at the same time even though the muscadine fruits mature at different times.
