Crispa Cristata Fern - Dryopteris Filix. The Crispa Cristata Fern is the neatest and unusual medium growing fern. When I saw the crinkled and curly green fronds the Crispa Cristata Fern reminded me of a parsley plant but looks like a garden salad. Since the Crispa Cristata Fern only grows from 12 - 24 inches it can be planted in mass or just tucked away in special shady corners and crevices in the garden.

How to Grow: Easy to grow, in partial shade in moist, well-drained, rich soil. Good for wet areas, acid soil, in the shade.

Landscape uses: use the Crispa Cristata fern is great as an accent fern in containers, woodland or a shade garden. Also very good for windy sites as the fronds hold up to wind better than most due to their compact nature.
