NEW! Gaillardia aristata 'Arizona Sun'
This Fleuro select Gold Medal winner, the Arizona sun sports large fiery orange red blossoms tipped by a ring of rich flame yellow. This one is sure to add punch to any garden or border. Feel the romance of a desert sky at twilight. The Arizona sun Gaillardia blooms for weeks in summer, attracting an abundance of butterflies on their way form here to there.
Compact in growth (8 to 10 inches tall), it makes an eye catching plant at the front of borders, along walkways, and in containers on the patio. Space the plants 12 to 15 inches apart so they have room to grow. You will enjoy this punch of garden color year after year.
The common name for Gaillardia’s is blanket flower because they used to blanket North American prairies with their blooms.
Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips:
Gaillardia requires full sun and well-drained soil in order to prosper. Given too much shade, the plants tend to flop over. Though they will perform best in moist soils, they are highly drought tolerant. Do not enrich the soil with compost or other rich ingredients when planting this perennial. It does best in poor, loose soils and does not tolerate heavy clay. Plants may be divided every 2-3 years in either spring or fall.

Introducing, exclusively for Greenwood Nursery Club members and customers,
our NEW STEP–UPS ™ Perennial Plant collection.
What are Step-Ups ™? – Our perennials are cultivated and grown with an accelerated system. They are started in small containers, transplanted to quart containers, and then transplanted again to ONE GALLON SIZE CONTAINERS. This expands the root system, making our plants perform like a two year perennial the very first year. Step-ups ™ perform the first year you plant them.
