NEW! Echinacea purpurea 'White Swan'
CONEFLOWER WHITE SWAN

White Swan is considered the classic white coneflower. As you pass the beautiful spiked flowers in the garden your aromatic senses are immediately attracted to the sweet honey-like fragrance. Although a bit shorter then many of the other coneflower varieties it does not stop it from attracting masses of butterflies in season.

The White Swan’s large daisy-like flowers appear from mid-summer thru fall, and after many of the other perennials have finished their blooming cycle. I personally consider that a garden is not complete without several of the coneflower varieties gracing the pathways and niches. The blooming cycle can of course be extended with just the small amount of work in dead heading the plants. You will want to leave the last blooms on the plants in the fall because the seed heads that form provide a winter food for finches and other birds while providing a visual attractiveness for winter viewing.

Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips:
Echinacea purpurea is a wildflower native to the eastern United States and is well-adapted to survive the hot, windy conditions typical of that region. If properly cared for, they will form attractive colonies and will live for many years. Coneflowers like it sunny and hot. Though they will tolerate light shade, fewer flowers will be produced and the plants will be weakened. Light, loamy soils are best but coneflowers will grow in any well-drained soil. Once established, they are quite drought tolerant.

Introducing, exclusively for Greenwood Nursery Club members and customers,
our NEW STEP–UPS ™ Perennial Plant collection.

What are Step-Ups ™? – Our perennials are cultivated and grown with an accelerated system. They are started in small containers, transplanted to quart containers, and then transplanted again to ONE GALLON SIZE CONTAINERS. This expands the root system, making our plants perform like a two year perennial the very first year. Step-ups ™ perform the first year you plant them.

You’re a step ahead with Step Ups!
