NEW! Coreopsis Verticillata Zagreb The Coreopsis Verticillata Zagreb is preferred over ‘Moonbeam’ in areas with a short growing season because it breaks out of dormancy several weeks earlier. Easily grown in dry to medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun. It thrives in poor, sandy or rocky soils with good drainage, and is tolerant of heat, humidity and drought. Prompt deadheading of spent flower stalks can be tedious for a large planting, but does tend to encourage additional bloom.
Flowers appear singly in loose clusters in a lengthy late spring to late summer bloom period which sometimes extends to first frost. Shearing plants in mid-summer (early August) when bloom usually tapers down will encourage a fall rebloom.
Uses: Use thread leaf coreopsis in perennial beds and borders, and in naturalistic or wildflower gardens. Even when not in bloom, thread leaf coreopsis stands out with its beautiful lacy foliage. Flowers last for several days in water, making thread leaf coreopsis especially desirable for cut flower arrangements. Honeybees and butterflies appreciate the copious nectar produced by these pretty yellow daisies.
Golden yellow flowers on this delicate plant make it any easy companion in the border. Use with purple flowering plants for good contrast, such as the Asters Woods Blue or Dianthus Tiny Ruby.
Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips: Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Watering can is reduced after establishment. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.

Introducing, exclusively for Greenwood Nursery Club members and customers,
our NEW STEP–UPS ™ Perennial Plant collection.
What are Step-Ups ™? – Our perennials are cultivated and grown with an accelerated system. They are started in small containers, transplanted to quart containers, and then transplanted again to ONE GALLON SIZE CONTAINERS. This expands the root system, making our plants perform like a two year perennial the very first year. Step-ups ™ perform the first year you plant them.
