Viburnum X carlcephalum--Fragrant Snowball is a hybrid between V. carlessii and V. macrocephalumyar. It grows from 6 to 10 feet in height with an equal spread, with an open and loose growth habit. Fragrant white flowers with 5-inch heads develop in late May from pink/white flower buds that are tinged with bright red.

Of the semi-snowball types it is the last to flower and is grown in the landscape for its very fragrant flowers. It then has a show of red and black fruits in early summer that hang till fall. The last show before winter is the striking fall reddish purple foliage that lingers until leaf drop.
