NEW! Euonymus Emerald Gaiety The Gaiety is a hardy cool mint shrub with green and cream evergreen foliage that turns pinkish-red in winter. This is one of the most versatile and least demanding evergreen shrubs, happy in full sun or fairly deep shade and in dry soils. Its fine texture makes it ideal for hedges or screens. Emerald Gaiety Euonymus has the absence of chlorophyll on the outer edges of its leaf margins, creating a wonderfully variegated effect in partial shade to full sun conditions. The Gaiety is a moderate grower that reaches 4-5' tall, 3' wide displaying a dense, erect branching habit. Provides color in the border or foreground planting. It will climb with support, and is hardy, and highly adaptable to various soil and climate conditions. Take advantage of its unique mint character and don’t challenge it with hot-colored plants and flowers.
Care Instructions : Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Cut back by one-third the first spring after planting to encourage bushy growth, and remove any plain green reverted stems whenever seen. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
Shipped in ONE GALLON containers, Purchase in multiples for best value. Available early March 2008. Book Early while supplies last. The evergreen plants will arrive healthy and ready for planting. Should they die within the first year we will replace at one half the current member price plus shipping.
Once planted with moderate care, just watering every five days or so and not fertilizing for the first year, the plants generally do well. The evergreens are a low maintenance, easy to grow; almost no care needed plant to own.
