Catawba Crape Myrtle Tree is one of the best purple flowering trees available. This beautiful Crape Myrtle displays large, long lasting clusters actually masses of dark purple crepe-like flowers in summer. This Crape Myrtle has interesting foliage producing a bronzy cast in spring, bright green leaves in summer, turning orange-red fall color.

A small flowering tree and moderate grower, this plant matures around 12 feet tall, 10 feet wide with a rounded dome. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system for your Catawba Crape Myrtle. Feed with a general purpose, low release fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.

For a formal appearance, shear annually after flowering. Crape Myrtles thrive in full sun in a good heavy loam soil with a pH of 5-6.5. This crape myrtle variety is mildew resistant.

Crape Myrtle Tip: plant in full sun for optimum flowering. They can be fussy flowering trees. If they receive any blocking from the sun for several hours during the day, such as a building or larger tree, it is likely to inhibit their blooming.
