Fraser Fir Tree, Abeies fraseri, also known as Southern Balsam Fir tree, has very soft, shiny bright green foliage with silver on the underside. Fraser Fir Trees likes cool, moist, well drained soil, will not do well in heavy, wet, clay soil. Fraser Fir Trees do not require full sun and they only need light shearing. They make one of the best Christmas Trees due to the fact that they have excellent needle retention.
We offer the Fraser Fir in a 5yr transplant. Transplants are hardier, huskier and more all-around balanced plants. When planted in your landscape, the transplant has a greater chance of survival since it has already survived the shock of being transplanted once at the nursery.
A transplant is a seedling that has been lifted from one nursery bed and transplanted to another. The transplanted seedling is planted at wider spacing allowing more growing space. Compared to a seedling, a transplant has a more fibrous root system and larger stem diameter. The increased size of the transplants gives them an advantage over seedlings, especially on marginal sites.
Size at time of shipping, 5yr transplant, heavy rooted and averaging 1 to 2 foot husky. Height can vary slightly due to the growing season.
