Siberian Elm or Ulmus pumila is the fastest growing hedge tree available. Siberian Elm is hardy, and drought resistant once established. The Siberian Elm is also considered to be a great windbreak tree when planted in rows. Siberian Elm is not to be confused with the Chinese Elm which is more of a tree form then a hedge plant. It has moderate water requirements until established. It also displays a moderate tolerance of salt and alkali.
