Miscanthus Gracillimus Grass is perhaps the oldest cultivar of miscanthus sinensis and remains a popular ornamental grass. Miscanthus 'Gracillimus' is a large warm season grass and is a favorite for its fine narrow foliage and gracefully round form. Use it in gardens, landscapes, foundation plantings, as well as around ponds. We find it to be drought tolerant and deer resistant when mature and a complement to large-leaved plants or combined with flowering shrubs and evergreen shrubs for winter landcapes.
Maiden Grass blooms from mid to late fall and grows 4 to 6 feet tall and 4 feet around. We recommend 48 inch spacing between plants.

It will grow in almost any soil, from loose sand to heavy clay, and does not require good drainage. Grow this grass in full sun except in warmer regions where some afternoon shade is best. Fertilization is not necessary. Divide Miscanthus in spring or early summer to give it time to establish its roots before winter arrives. Only in the mildest of climates should it be divided in the fall.
