Ajuga Burgundy Glow -Ajuga Reptans perennial groundcover is a creeping, mat forming, perennial that does well in shady areas. Ajuga Burgundy Glow spreads rapidly by stolons and gets only 6 inches tall and spreads to a width of 24 - 36 inches. In late spring and early summer, Ajuga Burgundy Glow will produce dark blue flowers borne on spike-like whorls that reach 6 inches tall. This variety has cream and maroon variegated leaves. It makes an extremely interesting contrast in any garden.
Ajuga Burgundy Glow will do best in a shaded area but will adapt to morning sun. (The foliage colors will be more vivid with morning sun.) It prefers moist soil with a good drainage but will tolerate moderately dry areas. Do avoid soggy conditions.
This Ajuga looks great in rock gardens, as a border plants, in mass plantings and is great for preventing erosion. Butterflies and hummingbirds are defiantly attracted to Ajuga, not to mention being deer resistant and a low allergen. If one is looking for a perennial ground cover to exceed in a hard to grow shady area, Ajuga is the way to go.
Plant spacings: Plant 24 inches apart, 100 plants cover a 400 square foot area.
