Description

Crape Myrtle Cherry Mocha Lagerstroemia -

Enjoy the beautiful and vibrant color of this crape myrtle perennial shrub flower all year round. It has a small, dense habit with a woody look and feel. The semi-glossy, burgundy foliage has deep red new growth at the tips that emphasize the dark green color of the foliage. In late summer and early fall, the dwarf crape myrtle treats you to a more spectacular color burst by producing smaller clusters of cherry red flowers from tiny, shiny red buds, followed by green seed pods.

It is however, a small and hardy plant, growing to a maximum height of 2.5 feet with a spread of 2-2.5”. It loves the sun, and should be planted in the full sun, or in partial shade with at least 6 hours exposure to the direct sun. It does not need a lot of water to grow and does well in average to fertile soils.

The crape myrtle perennial requires very little care: pruning is not quite necessary, but in warmer zones, you can prune it as required for visual appeal. It also dies back to the ground in winter and regrows after the end of the cold season.

It is ideal for use in cottage, eclectic, and modern garden styles, and is also excellent as a border plant, container plant, for mass planting, or as a focal point. It looks beautiful combined with the Aster ‘Purple Dome, coreopsis, veronicas, or in groups of 3.
